Flying Car is Not Far Off

by Justin Diamond June 30, 2010 12:11 PM

clip_image002It’s 5:00 p.m. on a Monday afternoon. You just got off work and are headed home to your family after a long, strenuous day at the office. Ugh, you see heavy traffic as you are about to pull onto the on-ramp. Heavy traffic is the last thing you want to encounter after a long day, but with an empty on-ramp, you have plenty of room to let your wings down and fly over the traffic to get home faster. Sound crazy? It is. This scenario may not be so realistic yet, however a flying car is!

According to an article on Yahoo! the Terrafugia Transition acts as both a car and as a “light aircraft.” To meet the standards of a “light aircraft,” it can weigh no more than 1,200 pounds. But, because of car-related safety features like airbags, the Terrafugia Transition weighs 1,320 pounds, 120 pounds over the limit. However, an article by the UK’s Daily Telegraph explains how the Federal Aviation Administration allows the vehicle to function as a car and “light aircraft.”

70 people have already placed a deposit on the $194,000 car/plane. It is pretty expensive yes, but flying over traffic? I’ll take that price to have the ability to fly (which has been a dream of mine for years). Check out this video provided by Youtube for more information on the Terrafugia Transition:

Top Ten Toughest Video Game Race Tracks

by Justin Diamond June 28, 2010 10:58 AM

clip_image002There is no better feeling in the world than crossing the finish line before your friends in a racing video game. Personally, I have been in some heated Mario Kart battles between my friends and sometimes I come out on top. But, most of the time it’s not so easy. In all of the racing video games there are some pretty difficult race tracks and popular car blog Jalopnik has ranked them:

10: Yoshi’s Land – Mario Kart 64

9: Nile – Hydro Thunder

8: Autumn Crossing Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2

7: Fire Field – F-Zero

6: Laguna Seca – F355 Challenge

5: Citta di Aria – Gran Tursimo 4

4: Fujimi Kaido – Forza Motorsport 3

3: Targa Florio – Grand Prix Legends

2: Rainbow Road – Mario Kart 64 (my personal favorite)

1: Desert Bus

A more detailed list can be found at Jalopnik.com.

I’m sure that within due time SafeAuto’s Payment Panic will make this list as well. Honestly, I haven’t even beaten it once. Try your luck and see if you can beat the high score!

Porsche SUV Turned Farming Tool

by Justin Diamond June 25, 2010 11:38 AM

clip_image002[4]Ferdinand Porsche used to design tractors before his company made fancy luxury automobiles. His legacy still lives on as the Porsche Cayenne can basically be considered a tractor. It isn’t quite a Chevy Silverado but I can’t help but think of the “Like a Rock” commercial when I see this picture.

According to Jalopnik, the Cayenne has 450 HP and 450 lb-ft of torque from its twin turbo V8 engine. That’s enough juice to give this bad boy SUV the power to haul a 21-inch sod roller. Talk about efficiency! For all you farmers out there, this might be a good time to possibly invest in the Porsche Cayenne.

But what would the crop taste like? Hopefully not like metal and gasoline.

Check out the Cayenne in action:
