Hear from the contest winner about his “VIP at the UFC” Experience!

Charles Sagona couldn’t believe the phone call he received from SafeAuto Insurance. Days after signing up for a policy from the state minimum auto insurance company, Sagona was informed by a SafeAuto representative that he was the lucky winner of the “VIP at the UFC®” contest!

Two tickets, airfare, hotel and private meet-and-greet were all part of the prize package. Atlantic City, New Jersey was the destination where Sagona and his wife (whom he selected as the lucky companion) would be headed to meet SafeAuto Fight Team member Clay Guida before his UFC on FX bout.

“The trip was amazing,” stated Sagona. Clay Guida was such a cool, down to earth dude. Even though he didn’t win, the tickets were amazing and the whole experience is something that my wife and I will never forget!”

“SafeAuto has been such a huge supporter of the UFC® over the years,” remarked Guida. “Giving fans the opportunity to receive “VIP” access to fighters and amazing tickets is what it’s all about. SafeAuto clearly understands that the fans are the backbone of this great sport.”

The purpose of SafeAuto’s “VIP at the UFC” social media contest is to provide fans with an extraordinary experience that they’ll remember forever. Giving away such a compelling prize package garners tremendous publicity to the SafeAuto Facebook and Twitter pages as thousands of hopeful entrant’s dream of being selected as the lucky winner.

“I have a lot of friends who are into the UFC® and they were definitely jealous when they heard that I won this contest,” said Sagona. After seeing pictures and video of Sagona and his wife on the beach, in amazing seats during the fight while also hanging out with “The Carpenter” in Atlantic City, Sagona’s friends won’t miss the opportunity to enter the next “VIP at the UFC” contest!

Road Trips Expected to Rise During July 4th as Gas Prices Drop

Road Trip!!!

The July 4th Holiday results in loads of road trips across the United States as families leave home for the long weekend. According to GasBuddy.com, the regular gasoline average price in the United States on June 26 was $3.45 and the price is expected to slide even lower as loaded cars, SUV’s and minivans hop on the roadway to find attractive firework and barbeque destinations with family and friends for July 4th.

SafeAuto Insurance, a state-minimum auto insurance company, has always prided themselves on their affordable pricing, and is always trying to save money for their consumers. This summer, not only are they helping consumers save money on their insurance rates, SafeAuto has also started a gas card giveaway on their Facebook page to help offset the traveling costs during the recent tough economic times.

New SafeAuto Spokesperson Norm Macdonald didn’t’ stay mum on the gas situation either. Instead of pondering about gas prices in the latest edition of “Street Smarts,” Norm vented about the confusing state of gas pricing signage (see video below).

The good news for drivers is that road trips during the summer of 2012 are becoming more realistic as gas prices drop to a more affordable rate. Norm Macdonald may be confused about the signage of gas prices, but no one is confused about who has the lowest insurance rates around!

The 7 Best Norm McDonald Bits on the Web

by Dan Seitz June 26, 2012 10:57 AM

We're proud to welcome Norm McDonald to the SafeAuto family as our new spokesman. And like all families, we take pride in each other's accomplishments.

Norm has had a long career as a comedian, starting in his native Canada in 1987. He may be best known for his hilarious skits on Saturday Night Live, but he also did writing work on "Roseanne," made frequent appearances on Conan O'Brien and elsewhere on television, and earned respect as a stand-up comedian. He is also noted for somehow, however briefly, reviving the career of Frank Stallone. In short, we're really glad Canada hasn't tried to take him back.

And oh ... did we mention that we also enjoy razzing family members? Here are some of Norm's best bits out there on the Web.

#7) His "Millionaire" Appearance

Proving that Norm can take it as well as dish it out in the opening, this clip really just gets funnier from there. It also shows his charitable side: Norm raised $500,000 for Paul Newman's Charity Camp, but played it safe to make sure the kids got the most money.

#6) Norm Saves an Interview on Conan

The really sad thing in this clip, aside from Norm having to step in to salvage this interview, is the fact that his title for Carrot Top's movie turned out to be accurate.

#5) His Bob Saget Roast Appearance

McDonald is a sometimes experimental comedian, and it takes a second to realize what he's doing is deliberately bombing at the Roast while making fun of Saget's past goody-goody image on "Full House." But once that clicks, this becomes hysterical, especially as half the stage doesn't realize what's going on, and has looks of pure bewilderment on their faces as a respected comedian seems to bomb right in front of their eyes.

#4) Weiner Dog! Weiner Dog!

Weiner dogs are, of course, inherently funny, but we've always wondered exactly where Norm found the time to get that dog so well-trained. And, yes, Norm yells at the poor puppy, but don't feel too bad for Weiner Dog in this clip; he gets his revenge a little later:

See, that's why you should always be nice to dogs; you never know when they'll decide to misdial on you.

#3) The Correspondent's Dinner

Worth watching just for McDonald's first joke...and the crickets that follow it. Of particular note is how he works this stuffy, overly polite audience of political journalists. He set the trend for bringing in experienced comedians to make something dull a lot more exciting, no matter how you feel about politics.

#2) Car Crashes

This is, for obvious reasons, one of our favorite moments of McDonald's on Weekend Update. Of course, we've also heard this joke about every single thing we've ever written about crash data since, so we'd better like it!

#1) Burt Reynolds

What, you thought we'd let this end without Turd Ferguson
