Columbus, OH - SafeAuto is happy to announce that Meleca Architecture, Inc. has won the Brick Industry Association's 2009 Brick in Architecture Award for its design of SafeAuto Corporate Headquarters in Columbus, Ohio, located in the Easton Town Center.
SafeAuto Insurance moved from their original location on East Broad Street in Columbus, Ohio, to their new headquarters located in Easton Town Center in 2008. Meleca Architecture, Inc. was chosen for the construction of SafeAuto's new headquarters based on their exceptional work around the Columbus area. The final design consists of contemporary structures and concepts placed in a traditional frame work.
"We've been impressed with previous work by Meleca Architecture and were thrilled to be able to collaborate with their expertise in the construction of our new headquarters," said Jon Diamond, SafeAuto President. "We had specific ideas of how we wanted the building to be built including size, location, modern exterior architecture, as well as accessibility to associates. The building exceeded our expectations upon completion. We feel very privileged to be able to share in the excitement for this award with Meleca Architecture Inc."
2009 Brick in Architecture Award
Since 1989, the Brick Industry Association (BIA) has sponsored The Brick In Architecture Awards, one of the country's most prestigious architectural award programs. The BIA is currently celebrating their 75th anniversary. As the only national association to represent both manufacturers and distributors, BIA is the clay brick information resource in the industry.
The Brick In Architecture Awards have become the nation's premiere architectural award featuring clay brick structures. Architectural and design firms from around the country enter their best work to be judged by a competitive jury. The work submitted for the competition included any residential or non-residential architecture completed within the last five years, in which brick was the dominant building material.
The 2009 Brick in Architecture Awards honored innovative use of clay brick in eight categories including commercial, educational, health care facilities, houses of worship, multi-family residential, municipal/government, paving and landscape architecture, and single family residential applications. "The rich quality of responses made it difficult for the judges to pick winners in each category," said Dick Jennison, President and CEO of BIA. SafeAuto's building won a gold award from the commercial category.
