According to Agero Connected Services, a Dallas-based provider of connected vehicle services for the automotive, insurance, and aftermarket industries, integrating voice and touch-screen controls could be the key to reducing driver distraction.
Interactive voice commands for performing tasks secondary to driving are essential and new federal guidelines have been developed to ensure that these systems are being developed.
Current systems that use these interactive voice commands can be confusing and often times have inaccurate results. Improving these systems is imperative to minimizing distractions while driving. By utilizing the best practice of maximizing simplicity, these systems can be vastly improved and will help drivers pay more attention to what’s happening on the road, rather than to what’s happening in their cars.
At SafeAuto, we’re all for anything that will help reduce distracted driving and keep all drivers more focused on what’s important... the road! If in-car voice commands are the way of the future, then we’re on board! Of course, however, no matter how closely you’re paying attention, accidents still do happen. For those unfortunate times, make sure you’re insured (plus, it’s the law!).

If you’re an avid reader of SafeAuto’s ‘Play It Safe’ blog, you most likely know how we feel about texting and driving. We hate it! And, it seems that we’re not the only ones. Slowly but surely, state by state, law enforcement is starting to really crack down on drivers using their mobile devices while at the wheel.
Massachusetts is one such state and State Trooper, Michael Miskell discusses the dangers of using a phone while driving in a recent Eagle Tribune article. “In terms of the degree of dangerousness, using a very, very small device for emailing [or any other activity] is less than ideal,” he exclaims. “Distracted driving in the daytime is one of my main focuses. Our true mission is really reducing crash fatalities.”
At SafeAuto, we can’t agree more about doing whatever it takes to keep drives focused on the road instead of their cell phones. Accidents still do happen, however, so for the unfortunate times that they do, make sure you’re insured (plus, it’s the law!). Donald Cerrone had never lost two fights in a row. The fighter nicknamed ‘Cowboy’ was facing a lot of pressure leading up to his bout against K.J. Noons at UFC 160. In a 26-fight professional career, Cerrone had always rebounded after a loss. The lightweight who trains out of Albuquerque, New Mexico upheld his reputation in route to a unanimous decision.
The bout was extremely one sided as Cerrone dominated from start to finish. ‘Cowboy’ landed 78 significant strikes (according to FightMetric) which made fans quickly forget about his loss to Anthony Pettis. With his controlling win over K.J. Noons, the fighting world is curious as to who ‘Cowboy’ will face next.
In the post fight press conference, Cerrone was asked about a potential fight with Josh Thomson. “Absolutely, why not,” emphatically stated ‘Cowboy’. “I’ll fight anybody.”
The fearless attitude from Cerrone is what makes SafeAuto so proud to have logo representation on this specific fighter. Without the help of a sports marketing agency, it would have been difficult to find such a perfect match between a brand and an athlete.
The affordable car insurance company is now looking forward to Donald Cerrone’s next fight. While ‘Cowboy’ was able to stave off consecutive losses (once again) against K.J. Noons, all of this fans are now looking forward to consecutive wins from the fearless fighter.
