Yielding on this road is probably a good idea.

Driving is a dangerous activity, and that’s specifically why you always need to have car insurance. But most roads are fairly safe and flat. Imagine if you had to drive every day on a road that is perched on a cliff or some other dangerous condition; you might think about drinking an extra cup of coffee before beginning your commute. So feel lucky. Because even though driving as a whole is a risky activity, some of these routes are utterly dangerous every single time they are driven, and not just because of traffic.

The peaks in Yemen are truly beautiful. But don’t let that distract you, because the tiny brick wall at the edge of the road is not going to stop your vehicle from going over.

 

5. Why So Narrow?

Not only is this Bolivian road on a mountain, but there are wet conditions as well. And the road is so narrow that it would only take one slick spot to finish you off.

This stretch of road seems so bumpy, you’d wonder if the shocks went out on this vehicle. Although it doesn’t really look like any type of suspension would help smooth out this ride.

In Hawaii, they don’t make two lane bridges for two lane roads. At least not on this road to a place called Hana. You just have to deal with it.

For those readers out there looking to begin a career in dump truck driving, please learn a lesson from this Turkish man who thought it was OK to drive with the dumper in the “up” position.  Amazingly, nobody was killed in this accident (nobody specifically referring to the pedestrian that is seen on the collapsing bridge), and only one person was injured (presumably, said pedestrian). 

We’ve seen cases of bridges that are not truck-friendly, but this is more a matter of a truck causing more destruction than most of the Transformers cast.  If only Michael Bay were there to have caught this on film, he probably could’ve shaved a few million off what is sure to be the third installment of the Transformers franchise.

You’d think not many things are powerful enough to stop eight moving trucks.  This low hanging bridge is.

This is really one of those instances where all you need to do is set up a video camera and go run some errands.  When you get back, enjoy the footage of truckers who either don’t read warning signs or don’t believe them.

Either way, kudos to the engineers behind this modern-day masterpiece, as it may have been built a little too low, but it’s definitely tough enough.

Anyone know where this bridge actually is? I hope the truckers had good auto insurance.
