Who doesn’t love a good old-fashioned movie car chase? You’ve got speed, awesome cars and danger all combined into one. Hollywood puts a lot of work into making action-packed car chases, and here’s a list of the best of the best. Just don’t ever expect to get any cheap car insurance if you’re involved in one of these dangerous situations!

Smokey and the Bandit
There’s nothing like the cops chasing a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am. It’s going to be hard to catch anything that has Burt Reynolds driving. He can jump a bridge like no other. Seriously, do you think that car would have made it?
Bullitt
This is one of the most famous car chase scenes of all time, featuring Mr. Car Steve McQueen. Who wouldn’t want to own the Ford Mustang that he’s driving? The muffler makes an awesome growl.
Cannonball Run
Roger Moore. Burt Reynolds. Cars chasing each other. Do you need to know any more about this clip? We didn’t think so.
The French Connection
Gene Hackman stars in the classic movie about cops versus drug dealers. The car chase is quite spectacular, with a car driven by Hackman trying to keep up with a train.
The Rock
Here's an epic battle of actors in really cool cars. Nicolas Cage is in a Ferrari trying to chase down Sean Connery in a Hummer. In San Francisco.
Mad Max
Before Mel Gibson became crazy, he was once known as Mad Max. Living in a post apocalyptic world, he was a psycho enforcer. Come to think of it, not much has changed!
Ronin
DeNiro tries chasing down a shady woman he has been doing work for in this scene. Adding to the excitement here is the camera mounted on the front of the cars for dizzying effects.
Gone in 60 Seconds
Nicolas Cage again? You bet, this time in a totally awesome Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 he likes to call “Eleanor.”
Death Proof
A relatively recent movie, this flick features Quentin Tarantino as director. Kurt Russell plays a crazed dude terrorizing an even crazier woman hanging onto the hood of the car.
The Last American Hero
Jeff Bridges stars in this movie about demolition derbies, stock car racing and running moonshine. We don’t recommend doing all of those activities at the same time, but they do at least result in a good chase scene!
