SafeAuto "Kicks" the Super Bowl Competition

SafeAuto's famous "kicked" commercial, which made its debut in 22 markets across the country during this year’s Super Bowl, received massive amounts of publicity.

SafeAuto succeeded in creating an entertaining and humorous message that brought to the viewer's attention the serious perils of driving uninsured. Enormous feedback following the commercial proved that the Super Bowl spot was definitely one that was hard to forget.

SafeAuto's Facebook and Twitter pages have been abuzz since the debut of the "kicked" commercial with constant interaction on the company social media pages. Fans proclaimed that the insurance company advertisement was by far the "winner" among all national creative Super Bowl spots (see below) shown that evening.

THIS IS BY FAR THE MOST OFFENSIVE AD i HAVE EVER WATCHED ON TV.  I COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT I WAS SEEING WHEN I SAW IT THE FIRST TIME.  THESE ADS ARE TO BE VIEWED BY FAMILY WITH ALL AGE CHLDREN.  SAD TO SAY THEY HAVE TO TRUST ADULTS TO GIVE THEM GUIDANCE ON HOW THEY SHOULD ACT.  I HOPE YOU ARE PROUD OF YOURSELVES FOR GIVING THEM A NEW THING WHICH COULD CAUSE PAIN AND PERMANENT INJURY.

I AM CERTAINLY GLAD NONE OF MY PREMIUM MONEY IS CONTRIBUTING TO SUCH TRASH.

I was shocked when I saw this commercial.  As a person who knows of several people who were bullied as children and adults, I cannot believe you would air such a commercial. While I understand the gist of the message, I feel surely this message could be accomplished in some other creative way.  The action of kicking a person in the butt, stomach, private parts or anywhere is not acceptable behavior for anyone and can land a person in big trouble. Your commercial tends to lend credence to kicking another person.  Adults and older youth may just laugh and brush it off, but younger children are very impressionable and many will tend to think it is cool, funny and okay. The commercial encourages, glamorizes kicking and gives younger children especially a nod that it is okay.  Even done in fun, someone could get hurt. I hope and pray you will take this commercial off the air.  I am sure your Marketing/Advertising Dept is very capable of getting this message across in a more creative, acceptable format.

This ad is horrible. Attacking a person's genitals is not funny! Nobody would be laughing if a female's genitals were under attack. Because it's not funny! Victims of this type of violence are already subjected to this disgusting "humor" on a daily basis with beer commercials and ads for movies geared towards teens. But seriously, would you air a commercial that shows a woman getting hit in the breast or genitals? I dare you to try. I know dozens of men who have been hit in the testicles by their wife or girlfriend and nothing was done about it. Commercials such as yours which make light of this AGGRAVATED SEXUAL ASSAULT are part of the reason people get away with this. Safe Auto, you should be ashamed.

Absolute trash.  Totally irresponsible showing such crap to families while they watch the superbowl.  You and your ad agency/marketing department should be utterly ashamed for considering such filth, abuse, and misandry even remotely funny.  

you have lost many potential customers after having seen this.  Your advertising agency should be fired immediately... but I can see how the publicity alone might actually make you feel the abusive, anti male and anti-human, cheap shot ad was worth it.
