RENTERS INSURANCE Q&A
What does Renters Insurance cover?
A rental insurance policy protects your personal possessions within your living space. In the event that something accidentally causes harm to your personal items, or to you, a renters insurance policy is there to help. By having renters insurance, you can have the peace of mind that your items are covered – no matter what.
Renters Insurance Covers The Following:
Coverage: ranges from $5,000 - $100,000
Items such as clothes, furniture, electronics and appliances will be replaced up to your coverage limit, after your deductible is paid.
Depending on your coverage, your policy may either reimburse your possessions at current cash value (depreciated), or they will reimburse to replace them in full.
Personal Liability and Medical Expenses
Coverage: ranges from $25,000 - $300,000 liability
$1,000 - $5,000 for medical expenses
If you accidentally start a kitchen fire or someone is injured at your residence and you are legally responsible, renters insurance may cover repair costs, property damage and legal fees up to your coverage limit. Lastly, if a guest of yours is injured while at your residence, a rental insurance policy may also provide medical payments to the injured individual.
Temporary Living Expenses
Coverage: ranges from $2,000 - $40,000
If the place you are renting becomes uninhabitable from damage or is under repair, your renters policy may reimburse you for your hotel room or other temporary living places.
